African-American College Readiness Summit
Dear Students,
San José State University is pleased to announce the Seventh Annual Fall African-American College Readiness Summit for high school students. It has been over three years since the last Summit due to the pandemic. However, it’s exciting to announce our plan to re-establish this tradition. The Summit is set for October 20, 2023 at San José State University. Our goal is to encourage more students to consider a path to higher learning. Previous Summits have attracted hundreds of African American high school students from throughout Santa Clara County.
This year’s program is again being sponsored by San José State University, in collaboration with several community organizations including the Santa Clara County Alliance of Black Educators, Silicon Valley NAACP, 100 Black Men of Silicon Valley and the Santa Clara County Office of Education. There will be several workshops focused on college entrance requirements and career options. We are pleased that African American students at San José State University will participate once again in inspiring our high school students.
The trip hours would be from 8am – 2pm. This does coincide with Homecoming rally. We did not plan for the events to conflict with one another and only learned about this event a few weeks ago.
If you are interested, please fill out the interest form at tinyurl.com/SJSUAAS2023
